It's an eastern fox squirrel, http://www.outdooralabama.com/watchable-wildlife/what/Mammals/Rodents/fs.cfm this perticular race is only found in the southern states and is quite large. Its interresting that the northern and eastern race look so different yeat they are all the same species.
