The interior and exterior shots of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are taken from a number of locations around England.

Location for Hogwarts: Alnwick Castle and Gloucester Cathedral also Lacock Abbey and the Bodleian Library (Oxford)

Alnwick is pronounced Annick.

The Duke of Northumberland, owner of Alnwick Castle, claims on his website: "We are fortunate and privileged in being a location for Hogwarts School in the forthcoming Harry Potter film." Alnwick Castle is the second largest inhabited Castle in England, the first being Windsor Castle, and has been the home of the Percys, Earls and Dukes of Northumberland since 1309. The earliest mention of Alnwick Castle in the history books appears soon after 1096.

Magnificent Gloucester Cathedral has been a place of worship for more than 1,300 years and is renowned for its stunning Gothic architecture. The cloisters are regarded as one of the most beautiful architectural features in Britain and the cathedral provides the setting for several scenes in the film. Perhaps the best shot of the cloisters is from the Girls Lavatory door in the Troll scene in the film.

Hogwarts castle is a magical castle, wich means muggles cant see it, it just looks like the ruins of an old castle (If I remember right). It is protected in many different ways, you cant arperate or disperate on Hogwarts grounds ( as Hermione keeps reminding us) you can't just fly to it, stuff like that. Inside the castle is verry confusing, it's easy to get lost. there are trick stairs, secret passages, rooms that only open at certain times, and it's very big. Even Dumbledore dosent know all the secret passageways or rooms in the castle. I think the only people who know all the secret passageways and everything in the castle is the Weasley twins, Ron, Hermione, and Harry. Thanks to the Mauraders ( a.k.a. James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter)and the Mauraders map!!!

You should be more specific about you're questions. But anyway Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry is a friendly place to those that are suppose to be there. There are many levels and rooms. Very easy to get lost if you don't know you're way. Look out for peeves (he's a jerk) There are many magical rooms. And hidden rooms. Watch out for the trick the trick stair case. It will grab you're foot. If you tickle the fruit on the painting out side the kitchen a door will open and you can meet all the house elves. Some rooms you won't be able to get into with out a password. Oh and watch out for Mrs. Norris the cat. She's not too friendly to kids. She likes to get them in trouble with her master. He's not friendly at all. He's jealous of all the kids because he was born without magic. Hope this helps some.
