I'm a nurse and consider myself to be extremely lucky to have a job that I love (most days!), It can be highly stressful but absolutely worth it. Although it does depend on the source of the stress, political issues that you can't resolve is a bit of a problem at the moment, and would be the main reason for jumping the NHS ship, but probably not into an office job!

well, not everyone is cut out for a life of academia. some of us manage to combine both skill sets, and are quite happy...
stressed out office managers / workers are only stressed because they cant do their job... due to mainl;y innefficient systems, and poor senior management...
i know this as i run my own bussiness... its upto me to get the job estimated and make sure all the parts are in place, before we go on site... if i get it wrong, the job goes overbudget and it wil undoubtedly miss the completion date...
which will upset my clients, and my workforce... who dont like working on sunday, or 18 hour days... i know this because 35 years ago when i left school and started on a bench, at the bottom, i didnt like it much either...
oh, i build steel framed buildings and associated fabrications...

I could never work in an office, it's just too boring. I worked for the telephone co. installing stuff for businesses. Each day is like a little adventure, you get to travel all around los angeles. and hollywood. I got to go to the movie studios, NBC, etc. You get to meet new people each day and learn new things.

Who is to say an office job is more stressful? It depends entirely on the individual, the job itself, family, home life etc.

I dont think its down to the job. Its down to the individuals working environment, their colleagues and the individuals own outlook on life.

Depends on how they feel about their work. Any job's stressful if you hate doing it.
