Maybe because it's too scary?

Maybe because it's too polictically incorrect?

Maybe because our society wants to steer clear of "harmful" religious idealogy.

OR............................. Maybe Because It Is Too Real?

There are a few older movies out there about dying and going to hell...

The Burning Hell, and a four part movies series including the following...

A Thief in the Night (1972)
A Distant Thunder (1977)
Image of the Beast (1980)
The Prodigal Planet (1983)

However, most people don't want to hear the truth about Hell. It makes them think that there is a consequence to their actions. Hollywood likes to just sugarcoat it and make them believe that everything will be ok.

"Constantine", "Ghost", and "Little Nikki" are two movies right off the TOP of my head that "bad" people being claimed to Hell for their sins.

I think "Constantine" did a GREAT job of PORTRAYING Hell.

And "Ghost" gave a great, eerie representation of the souls being claimed !

Admittedly none of those movies fall under the "horror" genre.. but then I try to avoid "horror"... "Poltergeist" was enough for me.

There really isn't any conflict, no hope for escape. They're dead, they have an eternity to be tortured. Once that happens, nobody can really feel for the characters.

All of the above...people want to live their own way;they know the consequences, they just don't want to face them.
