I'm not sure what you mean by "how many circuits". Two of the pins on the relay are for the relay coil; if one of the pins is connected to voltage and the other to ground, it activates the relay. When the relay is activated, it connects the other two pins to each other (or, in some relays, breaks a connection between the two). So I guess you could say there are two circuits in the relay; one that operates the relay and one that is operated by the relay.

2 of the pins are for the coil, which actuates the relay when energized. The other 2 are for the connection that is either open or closed, depending on whether or not the actuator is energized or not.
If the relay is a Normally Open, then when the relay is at rest, there will NOT be a connection between 2 of the pins.
If the relay is a Normally Closed, then when the relay is at rest, there will be a connection between 2 of the pins.
Look at the relay for a diagram of something that resembles a resistor. That is your actuator coil.
