Because many people in Latin America (and the US too) beleive in the dreams of Simon Bolivar and refuse to be a slave any longer of the Imperialists from the United States. George W. Bush is a creation of the business class globally and acts in their best interests on every issue... from Hurricaine Kartina to Iraq to Venezuela we can see what his priorities are.
Sane people reject Bush, and if they took time to listen, would embrace Hugo Chavez who speaks for the People of this world with confidence.

I believe that almost anything in politics can be likened to how a family operates. The United States has become the world's babysitter. When countries get in trouble, you hear these tearful pleas for help from the kind and generous U.S., but once they don't need us anymore, their antagonistic attitude returns with a vengeance.
Chavez panders to the stupid, the desperate, and the clueless. He tells people things that give them false hope, and makes them feel good about themselves.
Bush on the other hand, just tells people the straight truth. It's like at the Bush - Kerry Presidential debates. When asked what Bush would do to reduce unemployment, he replied very frankly that people will always be at risk of losing their jobs if they don't have skills employers need. He told people there were already tax credits people could use to continue their education, and thereby make themselves an employee companies would compete over.
Do you think Bush's answer was popular with the lazy? No, just as his plain talking is not popular with South Americans who always have this unrealistic dream that they can turn things around without real reforms. There is a joke about Brazil, even Brazilians frequently repeat: "Brazil has great potential. It always had, and always will". Of course, the joke implies that Brazil, despite having everything it needs to succeed, never will. It just has the potential to succeed.
But the biggest reason for the difference is the Liberal press all over the world. You can't believe the garbage I read here in Europe.
(P.S. to the respondant who mentioned Simon Bolivar, the United States has a statue of him in NYC, along with numerous statues of democratic leaders throughout history. So, I find it ironic that we, who lent our support to Bolivar, and who to this today honor his achievements, should be attacked by people citing Bolivar's quest for freedom.)

No, no!!! Chavez is leader of a populist, clown-style government. It's a question of delicacy - do you really see GW. Bush at a mass gathering in another country to insult a third class pres., trying to appeal to the low-class masses, etc, etc.??
Argentina has come from exactly that category - and there has been a lot of criticism levelled at President Kirchner for allowing a foreign idiot to come and stir up hatred in Buenos Aires.
Bush may not be a popular leader but keep your Grace going...Chavez reminds me of the play "...She Stoops to Conquer" - the 'she', of course, being Chavez, much like all Venezuelans.

Bush's policies have not helped the majority of the people in the world. He is seen as a bully and an aggressor.
For the most part, Bush has ignored Latin America. His government has pursued anti-immigration policies. It participated in a coup attempt in Venezuela. The war on drugs is a disaster. Free trade is a poor substitute for fair trade.
Now Bush is pushing for more biofuels. Many people see biofuels as a two-edged sword that will cut down on carbon gases in the atmosphere and lessen the need for fossil fuels (positive), but that will drive up food prices and destroy tropical forests while channeling most profits to the rich (negative).
On top of a long history of anti-American sentiment in Latin America, Bush represents much that is wrong in the world. Chavez is using Venezuela's oil wealth to provide health care, medicine, and food to many of the region's poor.

As much as I disagree with Bush, you must be aware, that the communists in South America are picked by the Communist orgs. If a pro western supporter shows up, the commies beat the crap out of them before the rally starts. But it is ironic, a lot of people are leaving Venezuela, to get away from the Chavez government.

Its because of the fact they desire the heels 2 be hated and the faces 2 be enjoyed. In orton/cena its the alternative course around. purely so that they edit out the cheers 4 orton and the boos 4 cena so it appears that evidently like they r faces and heels now no longer the incorrect way around

They have more of a reality based culture. Simple pragmatist don't expect much and are thankful for what they have.
Americans are more of a fantasy culture with American Idol and Jerry Springer leading the FOX News-A-merica movement.
As a Nation we are less informed of global policy than most 3rd world countries.

Bush should act like a man and debate the guy. The republican line is that doing this will lend legitimacy to Chavez... well, duh... Chavez is the legitimately elected president of sovereign nation.
What's there for Bush to fear? He has dozens of speech writers who could craft ready made retorts to Chavez' standard rhetoric. Bush's staff could whisper in his earpiece real time responses to any spontaneous comments by Chavez.
