The biggest load of fiction ever written. The bible is a fairytale fantasy story, there is no truth in it whatsoever. It was written by man to control people, and that's all it is, people are under it's control, like a herd of sheep.

Anyone who says there is no truth, or if you like fact in It, is simply talking about a subject they have not studied. Much can be checked against other old records produced by those not involved in It's faith or even hostile to it. For instance the crucifixion of Christ is recorded in a Roman document. Quote: ' ...... the crucifixion of the man Christus, if man he was......'. It is a collection of old writings by some 60 people over 2000 odd years or more. Not a book produced all at once by one person or a committee. There are plenty of other contemporary documents, including gospels freely available. Some prophecies have now been accepted as such because copies allegedly older than the events described have been found. The more I find out about the ancient languages and ways of going on in those times the more it fits together. Much of it was never meant to be taken literally. The 7 of our days to make the world and the Adam and Eve story for example. But conversley the Gospels have all sorts of features which indicate that they are not neat enough to be a put up job. Cleverer people than me are still correcting mistakes in translation made by people who did not have the understanding of the original Hebrew and Aramaic we do now. What really gets me is the established churches failure to update what little teaching they do accordingly.

Yes, in my humble opinion it deserves it's place amongst the greatest collections of myths, fables folklore. It contains many stirring stories, and the KJ translation in particular has some awesome and inspiring passages, amongst the best in English literature.
Alas, along with Homer, Aesop and others, it also contains some morally abhorrent sections, and it is tragic that, rather than looking upon it as a work of art, some people try and use it as moral guide to live their lives, This has lead to so much tragedy!

It's a poor work of fiction, I mean the hero dies and they only put the immaculate conception in there, so it would get a PG rating.

there is tons of truth in it. some of it though is eloquently told stories meant for INTERPRETATION. funny how this works the people who call the beleivers sheep, they are all the same and they are beleiving someone elses propaganda. if you are not inteligent enough to realize that it is open to interpretation then you need to OPEN YOUR MIND.

Some of the history is pretty accurate. Other than that, a work of fiction... ;-)

A lot of the geography is correct, but some of the history is a bit out.
