Race and ethnicity is always a sensitive issue as is and I don't like being threatened around March 17 that I'd better say I'm Irish.I was never called Irish before, and I know they don't live anywhere near where I live, but I'm suppossed to say I'm Irish.I don't mind authentic Irish people celebrating St.Patrick,an English priest whom Irish people say they kidnapped, then he taught them Christianity.I'm not overly fond of any group ,as they all have serious flaws, but I don't like being accused and disrespected and harassed. If I were dictator,I'd only allow true Ethnic Irish to go to legally sanctioned St.Patrick's parties, and wear green-no one else would be allowed to that day,or coerced,as to not make a confusion-it could be aired on T.V. like a parade is.Everyone else would have to wear their national costume that day and ID tags as not to be confused. I like clear lines of demarcation,so I know what is what.

Hey...I wear green because I like the color. I'm not Irish and I don't celebrate St. Patty's day and if I did...who cares? I was invited to participate in a Paddy day parade to represent Fairies and our local May Day Fairie Festival so go figure??? It's just another day to celebrate being whoever you choose to be so take it as that and don't worry about it.

In America, everybody who has ancestors that have been here for at least three generations is a mutt. If you feel an affinity for Irish culture then you're as Irish as anybody else here the way I see it. Even the Irish from dear old Ireland are of divide lineage many times over. They are neither purley Celt, Pict, Norse, Angle, Dane, or Saxon but an amalgamation of them and many more. So the Irish celebrate culture and kin not race. Happy St. Paddy's day.

I don't quite understand your question, or what you mean by "authentic Irish people." And Irish isn't a race.

And people threaten you on March 17th to say your Irish? What are you talking about? Besides, it doesn't matter if you are Irish or not, you can still celebrate St.Patrick's Day.

But to answer the question in the title, which is the only part I really understood, I am a quarter Irish.

Wow, I'm sorry that you've been threatened. That seems pretty silly to me. I'm Irish because I have a few ancestors that were, and I know I find it pretty frustrating when people say I can't be Irish because I'm black. Total stupidity if you ask me. As for making St. Patricks Day for Irish only, that seems sorta silly since we have a couple of holidays now that were for specific religions years ago yet everyone regardless of religion or background celebrates them today.

What a fu*ked-up individual you are.
I'm sure true Irish folk would reject you as a total waste of space, as would most other people..
Happy St Pat's day to all who enjoy it!
