They fought hard against a french team that was all there for defence..but seemed to think they didnt need to focus on attack..they just needed a win. Best answer should include just how Ireland help england win today so that england could help Ireland win the tournament.

The French were surprisingly unenterprising. Perhaps their thinking was all wrong, thinking they had already won it, and expecting to face an already demoralised side.

Its really good having a man like Catt. I think he's got character. What I mean is that its easy to let nerves or moods let one down, but a man of character can not be effected by that (or at least not show it). That affects the whole side and makes them feel better. The self-confidence of their captain (forgotten his name) back in the previous World Champs, was a major factor in their victory. Have a self-confident guy like that is important for the phlegmatic English.
If he's good enough to be going strong at the end of the season they should take him to the World Cup.

They have couple of new hot shots. Falling low is often a useful thing for any side ... new inspiration comes.

There are two French teams that can turn up the flambuoyant running team or the team who cannot put passes together and it was the latter that turned up today. English rugby is all about man mountain forwards with no skill and brute strength and the game was appalling to think the players are full time and get paid to play. Rugby union in ridiculous nowadays. 7 replacements are allowed which is far too many and with 10 minutes to go someone comes on fresh and makes a good run and the team score and win the game but everyone else has been playing most of the game and is knackered so that does not make him a good player just one who is fresh. The game was lousy and if anyone thinks it was a good game then they have a very low opinion of rugby. I switched off with some time to go as the game was so poor I kept falling asleep. I cant see why England are even bothering to go to the world cup. They may as well stay at home, rest the players and start preparing for the world cup in 2011. They have four years to find and prepare forwards who can run with the ball and have running and handling skills to match rugby league players. Andy Farrell is a waste of space and isnot the player the Twicers boys thought he was. He was fortunate to play with outstanding players at Wigan who made him look better than what he is. At Great Britain level he never won anything. We hardly ever beat the Aussies even though he was supposedly such an outstanding player. Hewas almost over the hill when he switched and Wigan must have been laughing their socks off to get so much money for a player past his sell by date. Don't be offended this is only my opinion but I did play the game for 20 years so have some knowledge of it.

I hoped England would win, so Ireland will have a better chance of winning the tournament.... got £10 on Ireland and i will get a tasty return if they win.
I really would like Ireland to have helped England to win, but exactly how they could have done this is beyond me. The French seemed to be their own worst enemies and England were playing better than they have for the last couple of games.
Looks like it will all come down to points, lets hope the boys in green can rack up some big points against Italy.

Go Ireland.

Well.... I am in shock, i really though France were going to win. But they were rubbish, and the english the odvious better team. Now I am Irish and well am shocked/pleased by the result. We now have a strong chance of winning the cup and well (woo hoo!).

With The Defeat Of 43-13 in Croke Park, England needed to well boost the tournament, because it gets rather dull one team winning all matches and etc...

Good luck next week to England and France, and of course Ireland!!
