I totally agree, as someone who lives in Northern Ireland and grew up in the troubles. I think for Americans it's easy to sympathise with so called freedom fighters when they aren't killing and maiming Innocent women and children in your community. I'm not a religious person but as recent history proves, what goes round does come round.

i hear ur frustration & also feel that the US have lack of consistency over terrorism.
my daughter is off 2 New York Friday 4 the St Patrick's Parade
& she will b finding out first hand, how many Yanks STILL continue 2 pay the IRA.
some of them even set up monthly debits from their wages, 2 buy munitions 2 kill UK soldiers.
the Irish troubles i think, r far far from over.
it's a question i asked many moons ago.
why does the US want us 2 join their fight against terror when some dumb-fcukers fund terrorists themselves?
it was removed, what a surprise.
1 yank even spouted off about what the Brits had done 2 Irish LONG LONG LONG b4 i was even bloody born as an excuse 2 fund the IRA.

It's a matter of semantics. Al Qaeda are terrorists, the IRA were 'freedom fighters'. Completely different. A bit like the way people currently fighting them in Iraq are called 'insurgents' or 'illegal combatants'. Must be nice to be able to be that innocently hypocritical. Also because all 'americans' believe they have a constitutional right not to be attacked - they had only been attacked on 'home soil' (yeah, like Hawaii is really home soil) once before, and that was sixty years earlier. OK, OK, not all 'americans' are like that, I know plenty that are perfectly nice people and have a less biased viewpoint, but then they're almost invariably out of the country.

For decades the US has sponsored and supported terrorists in many countries. The IRA in the UK, the Shah in Iran,Saddam in Iraq, Pinochet in Chile,Dictators in Guatemala, (over 100,000 dead) between '52&'62 at the hands of CIA backed death squads instigated by John Foster & Allan Dullas. The same thing in El Salvador and many other latin American countries. Also the US supports Saudi Arabia, one of the worst violators of human rights on the planet as is China, the US's new buddy when it comes to making a buck by the violation of Chinese women, children and in general members of their labour force. As long as China kept up the appearance of being communist, they were the bad guys, but now that they have openly become a totalitarian dictatorship, they are nice now. OK 9/11 happened, whose to blame, time will tell , but this did not give the US the right to attack Iraq. No logic whatsoever. Unless you are a citizen of the US, and only a very vocal minority of them.

While it has happened this is a small minority. The majority of irish american supporters do not support Sein Fein. During the early nineties plenty of the Irish loyalists were equally surprised to find genuine support for irish freedom and unity. We have as strong ties to the irish as we do the brits and the majority of our people want to see true peace in ireland as eslewhere. we're not perfect but also keep in mind while our reactions to terrorism may seem over the top we haven't dealt with it on a daily and weekly basis as europeans and the middle east have. When 911 happened it provoked the reaction we have today.

consistent with the question itself, it is not only human beings neither is it only an obsession; it has now transcended that to become a hatred and irrational worry. many questions approximately YA's immigration thread are inundated with human beings affirming that, "no longer all Muslims are terrorists, yet all terrorists are Muslims". additionally - i've got found out from those comparable responders - that Muslims can come and stay right here on a whim without worry of rejection or denial of resident prestige, that quickly, "the Muslim flag" will flying everywhere, that White human beings can not denounce them for for worry of being labelled racist and politically incorrect and that they are entitled to unfastened Housing, state payouts and the different income on the disposal of the, namby pamby politically spectacular liberal left. there is no rhyme and reason to those arguments or maybe much less foundation in actuality. What surprises me is the virulence with which persons carry those perspectives.

I think invading another country for their oil is an act of terrorism. I think bombing civilians and leaving children with no arms and legs is an act of terrorism. I think using depleted Uranium in their bombs so now Iraqi women are giving birth to horribly deformed babies etc., Americans have routinely trained terrorists for their own purposes. And we have joined them and become terrorists too.
By the way, yes we call Americans yanks, and you call us Limeys, so what's the problem?

It's quite simple, the Americans keep bleating on about terrorism because they themselves are the bully's of the world, they are in fact the biggest terrorist organisation in the world, and the fact that someone else is trying to terrorise them they don't like it. they don't want anyone to become "bigger" than themselves.

Oh to live in such a simple world. Lumping things together as "terrorism" is simply a convenient way to avoid looking at the real issues. If something is to be cured, attention should be directed to the causes not the symptoms.
