are you embarrassed to admit you actually enjoyed reading?
For me it is the Philip Pullman trilogy (I borrowed them off our Daughter).

Are you referring to His Dark Materials trilogy. I read all three and can only say that I found the ideas inside very intriguing. But ultimately, I felt that it cannot reach greatness. However, you shouldn't be embarrassed to admit to such things. Everyone has his/her own taste. Don't let critics undermine you.

The 'His Dark Materials' Trilogy is wicked - I'd never be embarassed about that one. I'm pretty embarassed about how much I like Philippa Gregory though, but her books are so enjoyable.

Sorry..I really can't see why reading them embarrassed you. They are extremely well written books, and the Amber Spyglass won a major literature prize..over all the other novels..not just teenage ones.
And to be embarrassed about reading anything...why?

I'm not embarassed to admit to reading anything. I read very widely and couldn't give a flying f**k what anyone else thinks about my choices. You shouldn't either! (and also - His Dark Materials are critically acclaimed so that seems a weird one to be embarassed by...)
