to balance this, first look at the Fe
Do you have the same number of Fe as you do on the right? Yes

Then go to O2. Do you have the same number of O2 on the right? NO, so you have to match the number 2 by placing the 2 infront of FeO, thus 2FeO

Now move to the right. Do you have 2Fe and 2O?
No you only have 1 Fe, so you have to put 2 infront of Fe on the left
Yes, you have 2 O so now you are balanced

2Fe + O2 ->2FeO

Fe + O2 --> FeO

u should realize that if u put a 2 in front of the Fe and FeO ull get:

2Fe + O2 --> 2FeO

you have 2O's on both sides and 2Fe's on both sides. its balanced.
