Would love to hear about some of your wonderful memories from that time....Especially USA/ENGLAND.....like your fave songs and such.....If you loved the British Invasion of '64....and 1960's Motown......
This time was so very special for me and I know I can't be the only one....and so I would so much like to hear from you all.....
I turned fourteen on September 1, 1964...and I was so totally and wonderfullly in love with Paul McCartney...and John was always my second fave....and now it's the other way around =)
I remember the first time I got to see A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (November 29, 1964 - my sister's bd) and HELP (in 1965) on August 12th at the mall. It was a year and a day before I would get to see my one and only Beatle concert here in Detroit....
But even so....1964 and 1965 will ALWAYS hold the fondest memories of my life...and I will ALWAYS be grateful that I got to
be born when I was so that I could grow up in this wonderful time! =)
Thank you to all who answer!

Oh wow...I can tell already that THIS is NOT going to be easy....I am sitting here
with tears in my eyes just sharing all of the wonderful memories with you.....
I especially remember a "snow day" in the very early part of 1965 when there was no school and so I got to stay home
and listen to all those wonderful songs on the radio...like YOU'VE LOST THAT
LOVIN' FEELING and CAN'T YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT and MY GIRL and THIS DIAMOND RING....etc.....and they were still playing DOWNTOWN....
I also got into the 50's music BECAUSE
of the Beatles....and it really helps with my novel that I've been writing on J&P that starts out in Liverpool, Oct. 1957...
It's just for fun, but I put all my feelings and such for the boys into that story....
That's where my yahoo id is from by the way.... =) That is the heroine's name and
she/i started out w/paul, but now "we"are w/
John and EARTH ANGEL is our special
song...and it's only "1960" so far..
She's from Paris -- bd. Christmas. 1943.

Thanks for bringing back some great memories. I was only 11, but I remember it well. Going to the theater to see a Hard Day's Night and Help. I couldn't wait for the next album to be released. I knew the British invasion was here to stay when I caught my Dad singing "Eight Days a Week" and stating that 'these guys aren't half bad'.
I stuck with the Beatles for many years, and still listen to Rubber Soul, Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour, Sgt. Pepper's, The White Album and their collection CDs quite often.

The summer of that year, I was in Manchester, England, visiting my Aunt for 3 months. My favorite band was Deep Purple. That year, I got to meet Twiggy, who was doing a promotional thing at the mall....I was floating on cloud 9, the whole summer.
It was awesome, and 40 plus years later, I still have Twiggys autograph, still listen to Deep Purple, and often think of those days, and smile...

I remember all of this. I can remember sitting and waiting to watch the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show for the first time. I saw Yellow Submarine at the drive in movies. I was a big fan, owned all of their albums. Had all of their posters in my bedroom.

yes that was a great time... I really wasnt a Beatles fan though... but I did think that Paul was just "dreamy" looking...I prefered the music from the 50's, like Fabian, Paul Anka, Elvis, Bobby Vee... ooooh those were the days.. ♥

in 1964 /65 i was about 8/9yrs. but it was really a nice memory about those years and i would pay anything to experience those days. i think those were the best years i think when everything was evolving. the beatles/ hollies rollingstones and many many others we used to listen on taperecorders and radios and record players . i agree with you we were really happier at those times when everything was still new.

i was only ten, but hip enough to know the beatles, rolling stones, herman's hermits. paul revere and the raiders were all the "next big thing" and within a few years i'd become a hippie wannabe due to their influence.
