Have you ever won your league but the commissioner refuses to pay up? Unfortunately my buddy is the commissioner, who happened to move away, refuses to send me the money for coming in first. See, he usually wins, but I think it's sour grapes for him not even making the playoffs. So he figures I can screw him by not doing anything. I mean first he claims he sent the money and then when reminded says he'll send it as he forgot. Weeks pass by and he emails saying he's too busy to write the check. Plus, he reduced the grand prize winnings too saying some people didn't pay him at all. I already know I'm not seeing these earnings but it annoys me that someone would set up a league where they refuse to pay when you win.
I guess this way the commish is always the winner. I wouldn't screw over a friend for a few hundred dollars but I guess other people would. And is there any course of action I can do to make them pay? I doubt yahoo can regulate these things and force him to send it.

I've thought of lawsuit but I'll probably spend just as much to sue him on lawyers' fees and of course I'll be seen as petty for even pursuing it.

He spent the money and doesn't have it to pay you.
Yahoo can't do anything. You could sue him in small claims court, if you win in small claims he would have to pay whether anyone paid him or not.
