Are people from France generally friendly?

As long as you don't speak with an American accent or tell them your from the US yes. Otherwise I wouldn't expect a warm welcome. I know from experience.

from the Colombo days french was the international language til MacDonald's came along french are very friendly but try to understand if some one comes in your home town of Selma Alabama and ask you in Korean some information would you answer in Korean or you going to say what the hell you talking..

If you make a genuine attempt to speak the language I find them just like everyone else. People in Paris are like most city dwellers, they got places to go and in a rush.

imagine your in a new york and a french person comes up to you and starts speaking french. of course you will think they are arogant for not even trying to speak english. its the same thing.

I guess it depends...I had 1 bad experience in Paris.My gf was tryin on clothes in a shop, when she got out, she forgot to take the hanger out,the sales asst was shouting ( in french ) and both of us didnt understood wot she said.Freaked me out as everyone else was lookin/starin.My gf never shopped anymore after that. lol But overall it was ok, a tad hard to order from the cafes ( mostly we took away food ) as they dont really "wanna" speak english.But i dont mind it,the guys can be flirty tho..lol even when u dont speak their language..they wud still try to pick u up! lol Cheers!

I've never had anything but good experiences there, and I'm from the US and I have a heavy New Jersey accent, and I don't speak very much French.
