What is up with people picking lousy answers as the "best answer?" Sometimes they really do pick the best answer. Other times the asker picks "yes" or "I agree" as the best answer. Hello! No thought put into that. If the asker can't pick the truly best answer, maybe they should leave it up to a vote, that's what I would do.

Tell me what you think and I really will pick the best answer, not just the person that says "I agree" or "yes."

You must understand that not everyone asking questions are really interested in a well thought out answer. Some just want to see how many people agree with them. Some are young folks just playing around on the internet and post questions to stir things up not looking for answer.

When I ask a question I truly want an in depth answer yet I understand that not everyone is of the same mind set.

But, one thing is for sure, I won't leave my answers up to a vote.

I'm not exactly sure of the mechanism for determining a "best answer" but even in the most positive case, it is a fallacy. We often reward those who agree with what we say and don't make us challenge our own beliefs. Other times, we award it for humor, or uniqueness or purely at random. Another question is "which would be better, no best answer, or a random one?"

I honestly think people make two accounts and 'cheat' now to get more points. Or they just pick the works answer to be stupid. I always take my time and pick the best answer that was posted.
