My husband found out he was adopted when he was old enough to know what it ment. His adopted parents are and always will be his mom and dad he did however meet his biological mother and found out his story as to how he came to be adopted out. His mom and dad felt she should be the one to tell it so that he wouldnt think they were trying to make his biological look bad. She gave birth to him in a pickup truck, drove to a local hospital dropped him off and left him and why...because he was a BOY! She went on to have 5 other kids giving up all but one which was a girl. All 6 kids had different fathers {go figure that one}. He grew up under 15 miles away from his biological mother and father, who are not together they just had a one night stand she's known as the towns "one legged bar whore". He had actually hung out with his biological brothers a few times prior to ever knowing they were related. His mother, biological brothers are all alcoholics and the mom is still 35 yrs later heavy into drugs. His biological father doesnt want to meet him was under the assumption that his real mother had an abortion with the money he gave her all those yrs back.. So to me and to him those are the worst parents he could have.

If you were adopted you would have "birthparents" or "biological parents" and "parents" or "adopted parents". To say "real parents" implies your adopted parents are "fake parents"
In answer to your question, I would say people with a history of serious mental or physical illness for fear of having the same issues.
