I have heard that wearing high heel shoes causes leg problems for women in later years due to the improper stretching of muscles and such. My daughter asked me this and frankly I don't know but it would seem that it is a social demand that is unreasonable to me. I do believe it is a brainwashing of society to even think this is attractive as people from societies that don't have their women wearing them find them amusing but not sexy.

Very bad, as it puts inporper pressure on the feet and throws both the hip and spine out of alignment

For those of us who were born with a foot deformation, high heels are more comfortable. Sneakers and "sensible shoes" cause me pain. Other than that, it's for the same reason that we wear brassieres, which bind our flesh into an unnatural position. The same reason everyone (not just women) wears jeans instead of sweats, even though sweats are more comfortable and less constrictive. The same reason men wear ties, and have a silk noose around their necks all day. Social expectations.

High heels do make the legs give a different form and make them look sexier. Personnally I love high heels but hardly wear them anymore.
When we are young the height doesn't seem to bother us that much. Wearing them for special occasions would not be a problem. Wearing them day in and day out will most likely give you problems as you age.

Extremely high heels (like six inch heels) can be very painful not just in the future but after about an hour of walking in them; however I frequently wear high heels (maybe I have been brained washed) and I have great calf's because of them. Only you can decide if you will allow your daughter to wear them.

Well, we were not meant to walk with our heels elevated. Some people have problems later on, not to mention the condition of their toes, from corns to hammertoes and so on. Others never seem to have any trouble from wearing them.

yeah. its not good to wear them all the time but once and a while is ok. It makes you feet flat depending on what kind of high heel it is.

Only if you wear them all the time, I don't think they are good for the back.
