from clarinet, it's really easy to switch to either alto or tenor sax.

I'm a clarinet major in college and i've played the saxophone for 4 years. the fingerings and the embouchre are nearly the same.

Definately an alto sax, being a reed instrument. Then again, it shouldn't be about being easy, if you're thinking of switching - it should be about what you personally want to play. I mean, I played clarinet for 3 years, but only because I was forced - I really wanted to play the violin!

Any of the sax instruments would be the easiest to switch to, but the tenor sax and the clarinet are both pitched in Bb, so a tenor sax might be slightly easier. Also consider a soprano sax. It is in a very similar register (and size) to the clarinet and both are pitched in Bb.

I hope this helps.

The saxophone is a wind instrument (just as the trumpet is). But the mouthpiece in the saxophone is similar to that of the clarinet, so the saxophone is the obvious choice.

Any of the saxophones will be easy, though switching to any other woodwind (flute, oboe, bassoon) is pretty easy too.
