I have gotten 2 e-mails stating In God We Trust was left off the new $1.00 coin. The U.S. Mint says it is on the rim along with E-Pliribus Unum and the mint. I cannot remember where I heard about the mis-struck coins being released and wonder if anyone has this information.

It was all over the news last week. Apparently when the thought was that the mistake was rare, the coins were selling for $500 or more. After it was discovered that over 500,000 were minted, the price dropped to $60. I think it was a deliberate act to take God out of our country and see if anyone would miss him!

Yes they dont have this stated on the side of the coin, and this is called an error,in which coin collectors will pay good amount of money for these. Also look for state quarters that are missing their clad layer, they sometimes go for a couple hundred dollars if graded.

They are missing the inscription, "In God We Trust". It was to be pressed onto the outside edge of the coin. There was an article on it in Yahoo News.

Most got recalled, but they're collectors items if found. The Philly mint made the mistake. So look for them on the east coast.
