A long time ago, it was not a series, but they did bring it back for a part II, there was an issue where Bats fought a werewolf (I think it was called "Moon of the Wolf"). The art was exceptional and even though this Bats can't fly, he jumped out a window after a woman who had been thrown out that window and saves her (heck, saves both of them). In the same issue they had a story where it show's Bruces father fighting crime in a bat costume. Now I'm not batty about the Dark Knight, but 30 years ago, this was neat stuff.

I remember that issue! The cataclysmic fight took place on a construction site. Even though he would ordinarily hesitate to use such force against anybody (since Batman dislocated his shoulder saving himself and the woman), he speared the werewolf through the body with a length of concrete reinforcement rod. Then it got struck by lightning while it was pulling the (non-silver) weapon out of its wound. The lightning temporarily turned him human again, after which he fled to Canada and became a wolf-hunter, trying to get enough wolf-gland serum to cure himself.

And the other story was the one where the Wayne murder case was reopened—it was discovered that Joe Chill was not jus a holdup man, but that he was serving as a hitman for Lew Moxon, against whom Thomas Wayne had testified! His gang had Thomas Wayne kidnapped from a costume party (in a ‘bat’ costume!) to perform emergency (secret and illegal) surgery on the mob boss, who had been shot. Thomas Wayne turned the tables on the gang, and they swore to get him someday. Thus, Thomas Wayne was the first crime-fighting Bat-Man, and infant Bruce’s subconscious memory later inspired him to use a similar costume!

Great stories!
