There are no set number. A pod is what peas grow in much like pole beans or green beans. The expression two peas in a pod is just a comparison term and has nothing to do with how many peas may be in a pod.

It all depends on the size of the pods and the variety of the peas.
Peas like shugerpod have as many as 15, but you would eat the whole pod so no need to count.
