Sounds like the dog is out on it's own so that means it's illegal. Most states have leash laws (an may also have laws about not removing pet waste). Call the Humane Society, report a loose dog and see if they can come out to pick it up. If they don't respond very well, if the dog isn't vicious, you can contain it to keep it until they arrive. This will result in a citation, fines, and fees to the owners; three of these can result in removal of the dog from this home citing the person as unfit to care for a pet. Maybe that will get their attention. It really isn't safe for a dog to run loose (no it's not "natural" for them, they're domesticated pets and in today's society there are many hazards to pets). Caring pet owners don't do this. Good luck!

I always used to scrape it up with a shovel and throw it in their yard. Then...I got smart. I got a motion sensor and set it up so that if any dog (including people who walked by our house with their dog) crossed into my front yard, the sprinkler would come on. A full stream from one of those interval head yard sprayer. Kept the crap off from that time on and people started walking their dogs on the other side of the street. You can get a motion sensor down at the local hardward store (like those ones you see hear when you walk into a store, since they can create a definite line). Just put it under a hood of some kind to keep the rain out and the rest is fairly easy. The output goes to a solenoid valve (you can get these too, for sprinkler systems). This way, you don't even have to be there. :D

Dealt with this problem many times, 1st you let the neighbor know of the situation with their dog and if they don't want to be responsible then get yourself a cheap BB gun and wait for the dog to start doing it's thing and shoot him in it's butt area not in the face. I guarantee after about 4 or 5 times that dog or cat will do it's thing somewhere else. good luck Les the painter

Okay, you don't want to kill the thing, but you want to give it a real clear message. What my mother did when I was a kid when we had a problem with the neighbors dog coming solely to our yard to relieve himself. She saw the dog coming one day and waited for him with a bb gun, and while he was taking a ****, she was taking aim, she shot him about as close to his asshole as one can hit. To this day I've never seen a dog run that fast.

Get your rubber gloves on and deliver it to his owner. Right on the doorstep ought to do the trick. Don't blame the animal, it's the owner who is at fault. If you try this and it has no effect call the dog catcher.

p.s. Don't hurt the dog or you could be in legal trouble!

Fill a bag up with the poop and take it to your neighbor. Knock on their door and hand it to them. Maybe they will get the picture to put their dog on a leash or in a fenced area.
