Hi, we just received our Select Comfort bed Friday! We are both now madly in love with our mattress. We got it through Select Comfort's Factory Outlet. I believe sale prices were good thru 15th. I'm not sure if it is possible for me to post that phone # for you here. We saved about 500 bucks on the 5000 model. Ad I received in mail stated that they change fabrics etc., yearly and these are just '06 models. Hey, at that kind of savings, who cares what year the fabric design belongs to!!! I wonder if you called the regular # and told them you wanted the outlet #, maybe they could help you? We also have friends that have had a Select Comfort bed for over 10 years, very basic model and they still say it is the best! Good luck, hope this helps you somehow!

It looks like the Sleep number bed has plenty of fans out there, but let me give you my opinion. My husband and I decided to give the sleep number bed a try. Our conventional mattress was breaking down, and my husbands back was killing him EVERY night.

We did the demo in the store and laid on it about 15 to 20 minutes and decided that we would give it a go. 15 or 20 minutes is not long enough to make an informed decision on a mattress we learned. We got a queen sized one with the dual chambers and the quiet motor. It wasn't the top of the line one, but it was the one just below it. We noticed right away that the mattress was firmer in the middle than any setting that we could get on the controller. To us, no matter what setting we set, we felt like it was an "air mattress" We were never so happy to get rid of it. Another problem we had is that it didn't sleep evenly. I don't mean across the whole bed, I mean within the individual chambers. At times I felt like my butt was higher than my head.

Another thing... when we were in the store my husband asked if they had one that he could look inside of to see how it was constructed. They told him no. When we received ours, we were shocked as to how it was constructed. The construction was basically two air mattresses surrounded by a bunch of foam with a cloth cover. That is it... kind of meager for how much you spend on it.

We opted for the Tempurpedic Celebrity model after we returned the Sleep Number Bed. (They were good about taking it back but we still had to pay $200.00 to return it.) My husband and I both love it. His back pain has been gone since we bought it and both of us have said that if our house burned down tomorrow, we would go out and buy another one. The only gripes I have is that the mattress is so thick that finding good sheets is hard. I have to use the elastic suspenders to keep them on. The other thing is that it is extremely heavy to move.

To us, the sleep number bed simply felt like and overpriced air mattress. Also, if you pull up some of the previously answered questions on answers you will see that some of the Select Comfort owners have had problems with mold.

Well, I would not recommend any knock offs. They may not have the same warranty as the Select Comfort bed, which is 20 years. I own one and like it a lot. My back pain is non existent now.

Hey Loo -

I didn't buy a knock off, but I did buy the cheapest one. ($300.00) I really didn't see much of a difference in the mattress itself from the most expensive to the cheapest. I have had it for almost 3 years, and all is still well. It truely does allow for a great night's sleep.

Hope this helps!
