According to the Noise Pollution Clearinghouse, "Noise is among the most pervasive pollutants today.
The problem with noise is not only that it is unwanted, but also that it negatively affects human health and well-being. Problems related to noise include
hearing loss,
stress,
high blood pressure,
sleep loss,
distraction
and lost productivity, and a general reduction in the quality of life."
In business, excessive noise can cause irreversible hearing loss,
increased worker compensation claims,
and higher insurance costs.

It may be too late tonight, but first thing tomorrow call your local Environmental Health office and make a complaint. Environmental health have a duty to investigate all complaints of noise nuisance and they will assess the level of noise affecting your property at night. If they consider it to be a 'statutory nuisance' then they must take action to remove the nuisance and resolve your problem. There are no set levels for noise at night and any level of noise can be considered a nuisance, depending on the type of noise, the time of night and the duration of the noise. Even if you are not bothered again tonight you should still contact Environmental Health and make a complaint.
