3 weeks now I have been getting very painful rib pain, my top uterus and about 2 inches below my breasts give me such sharp pain that I have to practice my breathing techniques. other times the pain will be in my belly and be soooo bad. sometimes the pain is mild...other times its so bad that I have to massage it and even then I feel pain. Why are these BH contractions so painful...and the dr told me it's also possible it is early labor. but why so painful? yes still i am dealing with it, no pain meds required for me. does it mean I may be able to have a quicker/easier real labor? i am 38w, 4d today..1 cm dialated, 75% effaced and babys is very very low in me already. So why all this pain though? Dr says me and baby seem to be healthy and all. i feel right now with these pains that someone is taking a hot iron and I am internally burning around my belly button and about 2 inches above that area. other times its like someone is stabbing me. the more I can bear these pains will prepar

This is all just normal stuff for the end of pregnancy.
When the head is low, you feel pressure; braxton hicks contractions can be painful. That's just the way it is.
Be sure you are drinking plenty of fluids because dehydration can increase uterine irritability. Also empty your bladder very frequently, because contractions feel worse when the bladder is full.
At your next visit, you could ask to be checked for a urinary tract infection. A UTI can cause uterine irritability. But most likely, it's just normal.
The fact that your cervix is already ripening does not mean that you will go into labor any sooner. It could easily be another 2 or 3 weeks, so try not to be too anxious.
(or, it could be any day; who knows?)
The good news, is that if your cervix is already ripe before labor starts, you have that much LESS work to do in labor. So hopefully, the early phase will go a little faster for you.
Good luck!

The more pains and uncomfortableness you feel, the closer you are. You are right, your body is preparing for the pain and delivery of this baby coming. The uterus and everything else "down there" goes through much trauma and needs tremendous preparation to appropriately deliver the baby. I am 37 weeks and 75%effaced, 2 cm dilated, and already lost my mucus plug. I know how you feel. I was told 2 weeks ago my baby weighed 9 lbs at the time, so I am going through lots of pains too. My daughter weighed almost 10 pounds at birth and I didn't have ANY pains before labor with her (labor = lots of pains). This pregnancy is different and with ANY movement the baby makes I feel intense pain. Every dr visit I tell them and they are not at all concerned and said its just part of it being "the end". Good luck!

Sounds like you're getting close and that your baby's stretching and moving around is pushing on your ribs and organs and causing a little "extra" discomfort. Just hang in there and if it becomes too uncomfortable to deal with, call your doctor's office and let them know.
For a little relief, try putting a warm heat pack on your belly or back (not HOT, just warm). You might want to check with your doctor first, but you should also be okay to take some Tylenol - it probably won't help much, but it might take the edge off a little.
Good luck!

Those are all normal pains. Im 37 weeks with my 4th and am feeling all of that too. Its just not always fun being pregnant. I feel miserable. It just means your body is getting ready for labor, and the baby really doesnt have too much room any more and when the baby moves around and it low it really hurts. Just think, a few more days or a week or two and you will have your beautiful baby.....Im very anxious to have mine already too.

To be honest, it's impossible to tell. Every pregnancy and birth is different. It sounds like you're in the early stages of labor though, good luck and congratulations!!

Your body is preparing it's self for labor. I would monitor your signs and symptoms and get the hospital as soon as you can if symptoms persist.

Soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like in 24 hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The water is next! But if you do not dialate to a 3 this quick, then a few more days! Dialation can come quick for some and to me, this sounds soon for you! You are probably dialating now and that is the pain! Dialation makes your crouch hurt soooooooooooooooooo bad and 75% effaced, is why I think this is soon for you!
