We can adapt to various circumstances with ease. ex. The ice age. We can work together and have a general acceptance for weakness. We are very social creatures which enables us to communicate danger, change, and teach the not so well off in our species what we know. Other animals simply die off, if they are even slightly weaker than the rest. We can reason and use logic in our decision making. We can for the most part overcome our basic instincts to kill and fight and steal, for the most part. whereas animals dont think before they do. We look beyond our day to day activities and can prepare for our future, and the changes that await. We have a relatively high life expectancy than most mammals. We can farm and mass produce our food and harness drinking reserves. We have spirituality that sort of overlaps our reason and being, and enables us to think on a higher level. We have a strong will to survive. We are highly competative, we are surprisingly very resiliant to sickness and disease compared to most animals, coupled with our technology and ability to fight disease and illness, we take care of our young and old even above our own needs. We Have a very specialized and specific body for all sorts of activities, we have thumbs, we can swim and walk and jump, we can learn, we can teach, we can make new technologfies to better our lives and prevent faults, we accept change, we have emotion, we have a high capacity for memory and resourcefullness, and we have an understanding of the world around us. ANd most important of all, we are Gods specific purpose rather than just creatures made by God.

Two possible answers:
- religious one: we were "created" like this.
- evolutionist one: all the animals followed parallel evolution paths -> so you cannot say that the human is superior(even if it looks like this because of the destruction power of mankind). The dolphin, the hummingbird, the bee and all the others can be at the same level as us.

First of all, humans are not superior at all. One of the dangerous lies that has been instilled in most humans is that we are superior. We are not.

Humans have a capacity to think abstractly and use language and tools, which have helped us create the civilization we have today.
But,
in terms of our adaptability to changing environments,
our ability to survive in environments we didn't create,
our ability to survive without the use of tools,
our hearing, sight, taste, touch and smell,
the strength of our instincts,
our ability to cooperate and work in groups,
our ability to efficiently use resources,
and so on,

are inferior to those of other animals.

Humans are only considering themselves to be superior.
In many ways, animals have better qualities then we have.
The thing we have developed more, is our brain. We have huge capacities with our brain, like being creative for example.
But we are helpless when we are born, in sharp contrast to most other mammals. We can't run fast compared to other animas, can't jump high, can hardly self defend ourselves (try getting lost in the jungle and suddenly you are NOT superior any more).

It is also said that insects actualy rule this planet. We will not be able to survive major dissasters, many insects will. They will still be here when the human race is long gone.

maybe the real question should be ARE humans more superior than other animals. Anyways, humans are more superior than other animals because we have the concept of death. When we have the concept of death we also have the concept of time. Animals don't think they are ever going to die, they just think about surviving. With the reality of death, life becomes more meaningful, so therefore we try to make it more fufilling, and since we have a time limit on this we try to get things done, where as animals have no concpet of death therefore has no concept of fufilling their lives since they unknowingly know they will live forever.

So far we haven't found anything superior to us. As long as we humans are the problem solving elements in reality in that only humans can be subject and object as well as object and subject in that not only are we affected by reality we also affect reality by changing reality to suit our needs. Other beings haven't that ability so are dependent on us to do so and that makes us superior in only that way.

Read Gen.:ch.1 vs.26 or chapter 1&2 of Genesis(the 1st book of the Bible) and think of it as a spiritual metaphor.
