Luddite is correct, especially where she says "Your partner needs to go home and apply for a marriage visa from their local British Embassy". Well done to her. Of course you could get married overseas and apply for a SPOUSE visa for your wife's return.

You are talking about two different visa's and I believe they would have to go back to their country of origin and apply for a marriage visa, if you marry on a vistors visa and apply I think the answer will be no.

Your partner and you will have to prove that this is not a marriage of convenience. The registrar may well intervene to prevent the marriage going ahead if they are not satisfied that the union is for real.

It is wrong to marry another person so that he can live in the same country. That is an abuse of marriage. If it were a family tradition to marry someone from one's country of origin and bring him over or in your culture, you believed in arranged marriages, that would be different. This person will just leave you.
