I say...if you are not going to tip in a restuarant, then you should not go to one...eat at McDonalds, or fix something at home. My friend never tips and he orders $80. food and a $60 bottle of wine. And expects me to tip because I believe in tipping...now I request seperate bills so that the waiter knows that I did not stiff him or her. So, should you not go to have dinner at a nice restaurant if you do not want to tip?

It is still a personal choice to tip or not. I agree with you as we talked about in the earlier question about the cruise. Waitresses get paid about half of minimum wage, the majority of their income is from tipping. It is wrong to not tip a waitress. I have only not tipped once and it was because the waitress was extremely rude to my friends and I.

Although I believe tipping is a choice I think only rude people or boors never tip. If the service is reasonably good you should tip.

I always tip 20%. Waitresses only make about $2 an hour with no beneifts. Plus when you come back, they all want to serve you.

yeah if your friend is not gonna tip he should stay home. In many nice restaurants tipping is now required or added to the check.

I agree with you. I always tip at least 15%...20 if the service is really good.

It's a good thing that you do tip because if you don't and you are a repeat customer you can expect to get some nasty food. (like having it spit in or worse) I will leave that to your Imagination.
