You could try some fresh veggies or fruit. Or maybe sue nuts or sunflower seeds Do your research first to make sure none are bad for him/her!

I rescue and raise small animals and here's the list I often refer to for additional foods for the hamsters. Please note they also list foods not to give them. Introduce them slowly to allow the hamster intestines to adapt to the new foods. Remember to only give small amounts of fruits since they will cause diarrhea. Have fun experimenting with the different foods.

You could try some green leaf lettuce, but no bigger than a nickel piece at a time. Also, see about carrots, and apples. Pay attention to the size of your pet when you give them extra treats as too much can make them sick.

well you could try some fruit and veg you could string some fruit and veg on some edible string and hang it from the top of her cage so she has to work for it. my hamster likes yogurt just a little bit. when i make pancakes i cut a bit off and mine loves that. when you clean her out hide a bit of her normal food in her bed so she can hunt for it.

Hi there! I'm just like you, always looking for more things to give my rats to give them more variety but there are LOTS of things you can give including:

Dog biscuits, apples, banana, blueberry, blackberry, broccoli, carrots, celery, chestnuts, corn-on-the-cob, cranberries, cucumber, dates, figs, grapes, green beans, kiwi, mango, melon, papaya, parsley, peach, pear, peas, plums, cooked potato, raspberry, cooked rhubarb, squash, strawberries, turnip, and watermelon. Make sure you take the seeds/pits out of peaches/plums/apples n such because they can be dangerous to Hammy.

Other things you can give him other than fruits/veggies are: Shelled almond, biscuits, bread, low-sugar cereal (Cherrios, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes), cake (not chocolate), cashews, cooked chicken, cheese, coconuts, crickets, cooked egg, cooked fish, mealworms, cooked meat, peanuts, raisins, toast and walnuts.

ALWAYS avoid: Raw kidney beans, onion, raw potato, potato tops, raw rhubarb & leaves, tomato leaves, buttercups, chocolate, sweets/junk food, toffee and garlic.

Make sure when you are introducing a new item you only give Hammy a little and watch to make sure he does not get sick then slowly introduce more. Also be careful not to give Hammy too many sweets or he'll get fat. With my rats I usually keep a little piece of my dinner (chicken, fish, meat, or a piece of veggie) and bring it down to them as a treat. They love chicken and porkchops and my one rat is crazy about carrots. You can really tell the appreciate fresh food. Anyways good luck with you hammy, Im sure he'll love all the new goodies he will soon be getting!! =)

Veggies and fruit. You may want to introduce them slowly though so it doesn't upset his stomach. My rodents always seemed to like frozen mixed veggies (peas, corn, carrot mix) that I would microwave for a few seconds and then let cool a bit (so they don't burn his mouth). My vet thinks that is why my rat lived a long life.

Fruits and veggies are always good, and they also love the yogurt covered treats you can get at any pet store.
