In my opinion the film industry has been on a downward spiral for a long time now, and I just can't find anything that I would really think would be worth my time. The Astronaut Farmer? Nah. Norbit? No...Ghost Rider? Lame....I mean, really!

Personally I hate romance and I'm not a big horror buff either. I would prefer something comical but right now as far as the current lineup goes the "comidies" currently out look pretty bleak IMO. Is Wild Hogs any good? That would be my first choice. Breech looks fairly interesting as well.

What about foreign films? I just saw an excellent Thai movie from a couple years ago called Last Life in the Universe (Ruang rak noi nid mahasan). It was amazingly beautiful, existential drama with cinematography (same guy who did Hero and the Infernal Affairs) that is just heartbreaking. I'd been kind of down on the stuff coming out lately but this made me love movies again. :)

[edit] Oh, you did mention comedy. This one isn't funny, well not funny ha-ha. I did see Idiocracy last month which was... okay. I guess comedy is a tough genre; for me a comedy has to be original too (jokes aren't funny the second time around). The only new comedy I've seen lately was from those AdultSwim animation guys. Frisky Dingo is a lot funnier than it looks. ;)

If you believe that the time of the movies has passed us by, then show your belief with your dollar and return to Blockbuster and rent the old movies. Some of the classics from any decade. Once we stop going to the crap movies, Hollywood will be forced to give us something better. They can't invest in too many 100 million dollar bombs before they go bankrupt. So they have better start making better movies.

I'm not sure what your tastes are exactly but if you like action I'd highly suggest 300. I saw it last night and was blown away by it. It has quite a bit of nudity and alot of blood, so it's not exactly a family flic, but it's probably the best movie I've seen in the past couple of years.
