The world has come up with a solution to war. We titled it the United Nations they are suppose to keep peace to prevent world war 3. We should never again have to defend our borders with weapons. Money, and intelligence should be our weapons of choice but we still resort to destruction of life and property.
The world community was responsible for stopping trade with invading North Vietnam until they resumed the existing border. This is more common sense approach to tyranny. If the world continues to trade with the offenders then they have voted to look the other way on ther take over of South Vietnam.
The only real purpose sending troops to any war is the new war games and hunting season by the rich and powerful used for birth control by governments entertainment achieving there political goals and redirecting the tax payers money.

Because it was a war we never should have been in. It became unpopular because thousands of Americans died for nothing.
It was during the Vietnam War that the term "wasted" was coined to mean killed.
The United States has not engaged in a justifiable war since WWII.

Body count and the rotation system was based on kills. It was considered a civil war and not ours. It was compromised from the start by Congress trying to micro manage it. We could not tell friend from foe and did not fight it as it should have been fought because of media embedding. I watched it on the news every night as everyone else alive then did. Wars are best fought when those not fighting are not watching. People are killed in wars ,lots of them and a great number are civilians that is the nature of war and that is how you win, you kill the enemy until they fight no more.

You mean Cardinal Spellman's war?
The American public wants to get in, kick a$$ and leave. In VN the early troops couldn't even unlock weapons racks without oders from the pentagon. That's not how to win a war. It's like fighting with both hands tied behind your back.

People in the USA thought we shouldn't have gone to war , but we had signed a treaty in the "50's " to defend them . Also , there was a lot of corruption and lying going on in our Government , at that time .
Our Corporations were making big money on the continuing war .
Many , many of our troops were dying and we weren't winning .
Sound familiar ?????

the main advantageous difficulty is that we've been too emotional as a rustic to make the superb suited decision on the subject of invading Iraq and we've no longer carried out an somewhat sturdy activity there post-Saddam. i might decide to think of extra human beings began 'waking up' and found out we had no business company being there in the 1st place, however the sorrowful actuality is that if we would've 'gained' the war "definitely" and troops were domicile by technique of 2006, we does not care why we went to war in the 1st place. and that's relatively unhappy.

Because the news media at the time, like now, was made up primarily of left wingers. These people were not / are not particularly opposed to communist , Marxist or socialist ideologies. So..... they influenced public opinion to sour on the war.

The motives were unclear. When your motives of going to war is clear in purpose and based on righteousness than people will unite and rally. When you taint the motives of war such as profit and gouge opportunities for opportuntists than you weaken your stance on the battlefield. All wars are eventually won in the will of the people. "If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt."
