Why do christians say that homosexuality is bad, because if everyone was gay the human race would die out, while ignoring the fact that the bible says celibacy is good. If everyone was celibate wouldn't the human race die out too?

What logical reason is there for saying homosexuality is a sin.

First, saying homosexuals can't procreate is the standard reasoning supporting the idea homosexuality is a sin.

Second, 1 Corinthians 7:1 says

Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.* But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

*footnote: Or "It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman."

This clearly speaks in favour of celibacy.

I'm not quite sure I understand your question, but I'll do my best to answer it.

Here is what I think about the thing a few others have been mentioning-- homosexuality being an "abomination against God." :

The verse I'm pretty sure they're refferencing goes something like "a man shall not lie with a man as if he was a woman" (anal sex) comes from chapter 17 of Leviticus. It's the Old Testement where the (literally) hundreds of Jewish laws are recorded.

God-- or Moses, whatever the extent of man's influence in the scriptures were--was trying to give the Isrealites a sense of direction because they were becoming their own little society after exaping Egypt. They weren't a very large number. OK, there was about 400,000 but still, if you want your own country/society, that's not a huge amount (considering how many people died in the desert were taken by the many diseases there were no cures for back then).

So. Many of the Jewish laws are really strict about what you can eat and how and when you can have sex. Why? Moses and Aaron and the other leaders wanted their society to be a success, so their goal was for as few people to die as possible. They didn't know anything about health in 4000 BCE (hence why they said a man and woman couldn't have sex when she was on her period) but hey did know one thing (and this is going to be very blunt): a penis in a vagina makes a baby.

Like I said, they wanted as many people as possible, so that means they want as many pregnancies as possible. And even today we still haven't found a way for anal sex to cause conception. So that's why they banned it.

The people who try to use little lines from the Bible as a way to justify their homophobia haven't actually read the book the way it was intended to be. The Gospels are the most important. And Jesus never said squat about being gay. Personally, I'm bisexual and I'm very active in my church :) Nobody there has a problem with it (I have an awesome place of worship *thumbs up*)

Anyway, I hope that helped.

There's a couple of arguments here. First, the bible doesn't say that homosexuality is bad because gay people won't have children, it simply states that it is an abomination unto God- God apparently doesn't like it.

Second, the bible doesn't really say celibacy is good, only Paul says this, and he even points out that this is his own personal view. There are parts of the Bible where the writer (mostly just Paul), will speak for the bible, and then add his own side note (and he tells us when he does this). So the bible doesn't really have a stand on baby making at all.

Now the logic of whether homosexuality is a sin... that's a big issue. But at least for now, at least we can see that your two concerns aren't met well with biblical arguments.

The Bible would not call homosexuality an abomination, it calls having intercourse with male temple prostitutes (a prepare of the religions of alternative gods) an abomination. The sin is having different gods before Yahweh. Nowhere does the two testomony condemn the state of being gay. yet i like the Christian copout that that's no longer Leviticus they're following, yet passages from the recent testomony. The NT prohibitions are grounded in Leviticus, so as that are condemning homosexuality in line with a pretend impact of Leviticus, then ignoring the different extra beneficial than six hundred commandments that they do in comparison to. Bur, on condition that Christianity in the present day is Salad Bar Christianity (even Catholicism - purely seem on the recent "sins" that the Pope invented), what else can every physique assume. The Bible isn't a e book to stay by making use of, that's a e book used to justify doing what human beings desire to do.

Look the Bible was written by humans despite the inspiration by God.

There is nothing in the Bible that says homosexuality is a sin. What is sinful is free sex/over indulgence in sex.

Homosexuality is a sin is taught for a political reason. Imagine if 1 out of 10 guys is gay and if the Church "being gay" is acceptable, the organization will fall apart as 9 people will abandon church.

Bottom line is Gay people is expendable. Anyway we can still be a good gay and christian at the same time.

They say it because it's in the Bible, period. Whether that's logical or not is up for grabs; a lot of stuff that's said in the newspaper we later find out wasn't true, but a lot of people believe whatever they read so if it says it, it must be so. They feel that the Bible, while written by men, was inspired by God, so whatever it says must be the truth, but they don't realize that a lot of the stuff has been reinterpreted over the years, and changed from what it originally said. There's no way of knowing if what we read now is what was actually what was intended, and to accept everything at face value just because "the Bible says so" is unrealistic.

Celibacy is good but it is not a requirement. One of Gods first creations was the family, Adam and his wife Eve. God puroposly created a WOMAN for Adam. Homosexaulity violates Gods plan.

The bible was written by man, and changed over time every time a different civilization won a massive war. Somewhere along the way celibacy and heterosexuality were inserted as the "right" things. Do you have to believe it? of course not.

The Bible says celibacy is good for the young and unmarried. It also states that if man cannot stop from being sexual than he is to marry, in order to make it right. Homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord-not bad. Read your Bible. You will get a clearer picture of what God really is saying, rather than taking it from some random christian-like me.

Most of them hide behind that book they call the holy bible and cant think outside of the book. They (most) take the verses they like and use and the ones that they do that the bible preaches against, they just say those verses are no longer any good and are outdated...
