Yesterday morning I woke up at 4am with contractions. I had them consistently until noon (45 seconds in duration, 2-3 minutes apart). It was lower back pain mixed with a bit across the lower abdomen. I was for sure it was the real thing. Then they stopped at noon. After that they came sparingly here and there, but I didn't feel the baby move so I went in for a stress test and everything was fine. They said its either false labor or very early labor. I was so disappointed to find I was also only 1-2 cm. I have a daughter and it felt just like the labor with her. I also lost my mucus plug yesterday...has anyone been through a similar situation? I know losing the mucus plug could mean that labor is one day away or one week...but any tips??

Now I am having extreme back pain and pain in abdominal too. It isn't like contractions though, just constant pain. I can barely walk (I tiptoe so it doesn't hurt so much) or sit...but now I'm nervous to go to the hospital since I went yesterday and they sent me home...

Soon! You can assist this process by getting up and doing some vigourous walking and stair stepping, just not so much that you get breathless. this sort of activity will induce contractions that !could very well kick start labor! also as long as your waters have not broken, and your partner is willing, try having sex! No worries though, soon you will be holding baby!

Same thing happened to me this week! I had a huge show, unmistakeable and low back pain all week. One morning i woke at 6am with contractions, getting quite painful and coming every 5 mins. It was up to 3pm and i felt so tired. They then slowed down to like 2 an hour and then almost stopped. I thought it was the real thing cause it was the same labour start off as with my daughter. I had all my bags packed and even called the labour ward. My babys movements have been sluggish for about 3-4 weeks now and have had to go in for a stress test and a late scan. I have been sent home to self monitor babys movements and had samples and swabs taken for analysis. Now everything is very quiet again and feel a bit like labour is teasing me totally. I am sure when it actually comes i will think "oh no, it cant be" and end up having the baby on the sofa. I think, take it easy and try and get jobs done before baby arrives, if you have the energy, cause i dont :) Good luck x

Well I lost my mucous plug when I was like 7mos. & I also had braxton hicks contractions from that point on too so that doesn't neccessarily mean you will go into labor in a day or a week, every pregnancy is different. I was also dilated 4cm by the time I went into labor. My tip to you would be to stay prepared but relax and get as much rest as you can. You are SO going to need it. You didn't say how far along you are--I'm taking it really close?

I just had my second baby 2 weeks ago and I lost my mucus 2 week before I gave birth and my doctor told me it does not mean anything. Contractions that close apart could be the real thing. If you think it is go to labor and delievery.

I was told by my doctor to go for a walk as walking will bring on labor but the pain was so bad I was doubled over and had to go back to the house. When I did the pain subsided and I was back to small contractions. You can try this, maybe it will work for you but I would advise that you don't go far and take someone with you. Good luck to you and baby : )
