FEAR is the root cause of jealousy. Fear leads to insecurity which triggers jealousy as a survival mechanism. Example: If someone has more does not mean the other will have none. But often one feels life is a zero sum game and they are being deprived of their achievements if someone else achieves theirs. This breeds insecurity ... "at this rate I will be wiped out". Thus begins JEALOUSY. It is good for materialism, rat race and ulcers.

Many reasons.
Mainly because people have something they want yet can not have or dont want to work to gain.
In other words someone might have a nice car and beautiful house. Theyve worked hard to gain these things. They might have a relative who is jealous. This person might be the kind who doesnt want to work for anything, just wants everything handed to them.

It is very common for we humans to be jealous about others. Its there in our blood. IF there is some thing which we desire or like and when we find this is with the other person we get jealous.
When you are also very possessive of someone u get jealous
TRY falling in love, you will realise what Jealous is.
My girlfriend is so possessive and loves me so much, that the moment I talk or in the presence of another woman,
she gets jealous.

Its a big story man! Jelousy comes from the point you see yourself behind anyone. It is the complexion that comes when you are not successful and other is. It may be all the fields of life, either it is social, financial or emotion. People feel jelous when they find themselves not competing with anyone.

Actually they appreciate and want to do the same that the other did. But owing to some reason they cannot do it now. What else can do other than see it with a jelous eye.

It is because ,they lack in something either in wealth, or in health or in education, or in job.Mostly the jealouse is nothing but incompetance.
