I went to a local bar/club on Friday night and I did not have enough cash for the cover charge so the person at the door told me to go to the bar and use my debit/ bank card to get the money from the bartender. The bartender took my card and charged me for the cover charge and gave me the cash. I just noticed that they added an extra $5 on there !

It has made my card overdrawn now by $2.50!

What can I do?

Call your bank and explain the situation. They will take care of it. The club did something illeagal. They will be prosecuted. Keep that receipt!

Get a replica of the reciept and contact or bypass on your financial employer , you may have not appeared once you signed the reciept . often you're think to envision a field and upload an volume for a tip once you employ a credit or debit card. you may dispute it at the same time with your financial employer and the bar. solid good fortune !

I'm sorry to say but it'll be hard to prove, especially now you don't have the reciept. For that amount of money, the police would call your case 'frivilous' ( it's like loosing $5 in the street and reporting it missing).
But, you never know. Maybe confront the club manager and explain whats happened, and ask for your money back.
Good luck

am assuming if you did not use the prefered method of payment which is cash, the inconvenience of processing and waiting for the payment to come through is the $5 levy. i wouldnt bother reporting it to the bank or the police. its standard practice if you dont use cash in places were cash is expected.

Definitely call your bank and get this taken care of. Unless it was otherwise posted as an extra fee you shouldn't be liable.

that's fraud, I'd take it up with the bank and then the police.
