I need to know how to wire the ignition switch inside the mercontrol box which also contains choke button and throttle control forward and reverse lever.

I suppose that means you will catch all the fish. I donno,
where I came from, the Sahara, they won't talk this stuff.
Okay look under the motor pole, steering wheel, there is
a set up number for electronics, replacement and maintenance. This exact combination is one of only about
5 sets that ever went out. If you have the direct inboard-
outboard safety system, outboard high design, outboard
low design, and inboard. Inboard with cooling may not
have been out in 78. These designs tell you a sheet in

you're gonna' need a diagram for that one. try the local library for "clymer" repair manuals. if i remember right on that old unit there are 6 wires and very little space. you might want to consider a dash mount replacement.
