I ruthlessly tire myself out & fall asleep before I hit the pillow...you neednt do that though.....

Simplw ways to feel sleepy at night:

Avoid eating carbs or heavy food three hours before bed time
Dont eat spicy, oily food during the day..it may cause indigestion, waking you up....
Avoid tea cofee alcohol.
Drink 2 1/2 litres of water daily.

Do as much activity as possible. Here are some tips:
take a bicycle to shopping, work, school, etc, or walk
always take the stairs.
Take a brisk walk every evening. Fresh air improves circulation.

Dont sleep during the day
Take a warm relaxing bath with aroma oils just before bedtime.Play soothing music during this time.
Drink a glass of warm cows milk before sleeping.

Sleep in dark, cool room.
There should be sufficient fresh air in the room. There should be adequate ventilation, & it should not be stuffy.
Your bed should be clean & soft. Lay out the matresses in the sun daily or beat them with a duster.
Lay clean white cotton sheets on the bed. The are more relaxing.
You should not be disturbed from your sleep: so keep all distractions at bay.

Sleep at a fixed time & rise at the fixed time daily. there should be 8 hours in between.

(If nothing else works, count sheep?!!!)

A homeopathic preparation called Nux Vomica can sometimes help. It comes in a tube of tiny "pillules" that you put under your tongue 2-4 at a time between meals. When I was experiencing difficulty sleeping it worked for me. These things seem not to work for everyone though.
