If you can see 'those extraordinary colours', write it down. You obviously have a gift for bright imagery. Don't be dismayed at first if the poetry somehow doesn't fit or work. Poetry requires skilled workmanship. Keep writing and keep the old pieces that you have rejected because in them there may well be an ugly duckling about to explode into a graceful swan.
Your imagination is the key to what ever profession you choose, writing or science. Some of the best poems ever written, for their simple beauty, have been equations and formulae.

Yes, you can learn to be a poet.
It sounds like you already know that you have something special. Seeing things differently lends itself perfectly to poetry. Read tons of poetry. If your high school offers a creative writing class, take it. Or at least make friends with the teacher and see if they have some reading suggestions for you.
Whatever you do don't stop writing. You don't have to share everything you write. It doesn't have to be good to anyone else. Just don't stop.
Best of luck

Absolutely nothing you say convinces me that you are not a poet.
Do not go to poetry head-on. Use your ability with the essay to slip into the poetry. Use the Law of Reverse Effort.
There is no one way to approach any one thing necessarily.
Salvage this talent for the essay and make lemonade that becomes the Poet Laureate.

have not we accomplished this before? sure Roann has a good volume of expertise, as does Cassie, yet then i imagine that Aquarius35 and BlueFeather both rank with the flexibility of the sophisticate too. Then there are others that in good structure into different diverse kinds and if I were to start up naming all of them we may be the following continually. such truly some have come and lengthy gone and such truly some have replaced- project Nyu, Kirby, the different heart, HD...and Sin and Mizzy and also you, Caz, sure you're one which i visit in no way ignore because of a few heavy truths and some humbling moments shared on your works. and then there is Dallas and her memories that drew easily everyone into the middle of this position, and Nancy who tucks us all in each so often with bedtime memories like adolescence aims...and different marvelous writers, Autumn Lover, my perfect magnificent wish JoJo, and her sweet poetic buddy Avery dang it I wasn't going to attempt this Sue, being Ma again, Dee throwing ever-inspired poetry each so often, Doe gained't write more suitable yet I wish she could...

you definately have the spark! i am a writer myself, same age, of essays and poems, and many people have told me i have that spark. all you really need is an average talent that is developed through a burning passion, which you seem to have for poetry. the best thing you can do is keep a writer's notebook, like i do, bring it everywhere, and any time you are overcome with a strong feeling of anything (love, hate, depression, etc.) try to express it through words. when you are currently experiencing the feeling is when you can most easily express it in words. it will just flow out, never force it.

You sound like from your writing that you are a very creative girl. You have the ability to do anything you want and the good fortune to have youth on your side. Do not let people on here tell you you cannot be a poet, a scientist, or a lion tamer if that is what you want! Study hard in whatever you choose.

If writing is something you love to do, keep at it...i love to read and write poetry. My teacher said i am a natural, but a few years ago, i couldn't write one stanza if my life depended on it...maybe you just havent found the writing style that is right for you. There are so many styles like Haiku, Ode, Song, Acrostic, Limerick, Sonnet, Fable, Epic, Mirrored Refrain, Tongue, and my favorite...Free Verse. You just have to keep at it and test out the different forms of poetry, when you find it, your poems will come to you naturally.

We have to bear in mind that in poetry we communicate our ideas through immagination. So first of all you have to be imaginative in order to be able to create pictures in the mind of your reader. You have to know that in poetry we have sense and the style to convey it. By style we mean here the versification, the diction and the imagery used in it. You have to know prosody in English poetry and the kinds of that poetry.Diction in poetry is much more compressed than that used in prose. you should use suggestive words since you are limited in space.Imagery is an appeal to the senses of the reader through the use of words. We can save time and space by creating images in the mind of the reader. Finally and more importantly you should have extensive reading of poetry.

If you want to conquer the world then let your "ruthlessness" and "discipline" be your energy.
Imagine that you are a fast movin train and the peoples who cannot keep up with you are losers and keep on goin.
Best of Luck!
