If the Braves are going to make the playoffs, they will have to via the NL Wild Card. I simply don't see them beating the powerhouse lineup of the Mets for the division title. However, winning the Wild Card will be no small task. Two teams that I see have a better shot at the postseason are the Phillies, led by the big bat of Ryan Howard, and the newly constructed Cubs team. The Braves lack that cohesiveness from a few years back, and it will take some more time for the young guns to blend in with the veterans and make a playoff run. Ultimately, the Braves' inconsistency (lack of a leadoff hitter and lights-out closer) will leave them on the outside looking in come October.

Doesn't every Braves fan think they can win the WS. I'm sorry to say but, the real answer is the Red Sox vs. Cards will probably be the WS. But, what I can tell is how the Braves will fair. The Braves will have a chance at Wild Card or even NL East. I think they will do decent but, the loss of Adam LaRoche hurts them. But, on the other hand Chuck James is a good addition and so was Bob Wickman last season.

People seem to think the Braves' offense won't match up to the Mets, despite the fact that Atlanta outscored New York 849 to 834.
If they lose the 33.3 runs LaRoche gave them over average (2006 VORP), they're still the 5th best offense of the league.
So, assuming offense is about equal, let's look at pitching. The Braves filled out their bullpen, and instead of their biggest hole, they finally have it as a strength. Considering New York also has a great bullpen, it comes down to the rotation.
Both are seeded by old players, both have key injured players, and both are filled in with rookie and unestablished players.
This fight will be a lot closer than people expect...

I think they have a very good chance if they have learned from last year and that big baby Chipper can last a few days without going on the DL/ They have to have a better team than last year I'm also a die hard Braves fan.Lets all hope for the best.

i'm a large Atlanta Braves fan, yet i imagine that Bobby Cox is going to retire without yet another ring. If the Braves didnt win more suitable than one global sequence even as that they had Glavine, Smoltz, and Maddox, they don't look going to win now. that they had an all well-known man or woman pitching team and three destiny hall of famers on that starting up rotation and they were in reality able to win one global sequence. also, Chipper is going downhill; he's only too previous and each and each year receives damage. yet another disappointing season for us.

Not likely, Braves fans should have filled that stadium for every game for those 14 years winning their division and had a good team. They became accustomed to it, and now their team is starting to suck and they will whine about it. It's gonna be a while before they make the playoffs again. You had 14 straight years to enjoy a good team, sorry about your luck if you missed it. Thanks to TBS I didn't.

I think their chances are way better than last year. We have a better bullpen and everything, but now it depends on how well jonhnson and thorman fill in for Laroche and giles. Hopefully chipper can last and we keep andruw. I hope we can start a new streak this year.

Just my opinion, but not very. They'd have to get past both the Mets and Phillies, which will be an uphill battle.
