Is your bump very large for your dates? In my first pregnancy I was always very large for my dates (the baby had gallons of amniotic fluid around him) and the muscles that are supposed to support the bump came right apart. Towards the end of the pregnancy it wasn't just a dull ache, it was occasionally a nasty tearing sort of pain because the muscles in front were damaged. My second pregnancy was smaller, but the supporting muscles were still too weak and I tried using support belts. It didn't help much. I can't think of much that's helpful, apart from the fact that at 37 weeks the baby would be OK if it came now, so you can start taking things like raspberry tea (loosens everything up, helps your body get ready for labour and even may help labour to start earlier and to go more easily). Before a future pregnancy, if it is to do with your muscles, you would want to do a lot of exercises to firm up your stomach, and you'd want to make sure you have a low-salt diet or anything else you know about that could encourage the baby NOT to produce so much liquid inside you!

one of my pregnancies was like that
I tried the pillow between the legs trick to help some - it works because it helps to open the legs to the width of the belly - and can relieve some of the pressure you don't even know you are putting on yourself...
- it gave some relief but what often worked was I'd settle on my side, with the pillow between the knees so the pressure was off and my husband would gently but with firm fingers massage my lower back starting at the spine and working around to the side of my big belly and down war towards the underside of my belly to try to relax the muscles that had carried the load all day. After 15 minutes I'd flip sides to the side that I'd more than likely fall asleep on (we all have one over the other don't we?) and he'd do it all over again on the other side.
It took a lot from him because his hands were sore he said but he also said I was doing the "heavy work" so it was worth it to give me some relief. It didn't make it all better but it sure helped and what sleep i did manage to get was much more restful right from the start. I also drank a cup of Chamomile tea before bed. I used the selestial seasons (sp?).

Good Luck to you and in about 20 weeks I'll be back there again...

If everything checks out okay at the Doctors- just try rubbing your belly a lot with cocoa butter lotion or a cream for stretch marks. Some of the pain can be from dry skin and stretching. Have your man do it for you while you relax. This is especially helpful after a warm bath. You may need to apply the lotion several times a day. For trouble sleeping, try sleeping in a recliner or propped up in bed with lots of pillows instead of laying flat. Use pillows between or under your legs. Best wishes and God bless!

I have a VERY sore stomach and am also 37 weeks. In bed I put a pillow between my legs and another under my belly when I lay on my side. I am also drinking Red Raspberry Leaf tea, this helps tone the uterus getting it ready for labor. When I get out of bed I roll my legs over to the floor first and then stand up. Just sitting up quickly isn't the best and hurts more...Good luck! We need it, the end is NEAR! :)

i am having this now. I sleep witha body pillow between my legs. But i am still constantly switching sides.

I usually go to bes around 12 (im not tired before then) and wake up at around 7:30. That includes a long night of waking up 4 times to go pee and having to try to find a confortable position to sleep in again.

Try using a body pillow. It has kind of helped me. If you don't have a body pillow, use a blanket, floded up and put it between your legs. It helps a bit.

Sleep on your side, and put a pillow between your knees. Not much will help. All of your muscles are stretched to the max at this point. Good luck!

I remember being very uncomfortable at that point. I always sleep on my side, with a pillow under my knee. King size pillow is perfect. If you're having quite a bit of pain, I suggest contacted your doctor to let him/her know.

Your muscles are stretched at this point and nothing seems comfortable, but if the pain is severe or constant (or even feel like contractions), you should at least call your doctor. It's so much safer to call the doctor and bug them about nothing than it it is to ignore something that could be important.

Yes, I did and it was my ribs! My ribs were so sore they felt bruised and I just new I could not make it! It was severe pain! But I used bengay and heating pads on my ribcage and it got better, but omg, I thought I could not make it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does get better before birth, just keep thinking that you are so close and this will be worth all the discomfort when you hold your baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes! For you, use pillows to prop your back up in chairs and extra at night to sleep and maybe one between legs!
