I would rather read a good book. There is so much in a book that can't be shown in a movie and I like forming my own idea as to the character's looks. I can still enjoy the movie at a later time. If I see the movie first, I can't get into the movie as well. It's like " The Shining." The book was really scary and when I saw the movie a couple of years later, it seemed comedic.

I read a lot and I watch movies a lot. I watch about 5 to 6 movies a week. I'd rather see movies at home, but if I'm on a trip, or anywhere else, I usually read.

if the plot is really complex and the characters really fleshed out, I'd rather read it.

If it's a good story and the actors bring presence to the characters then I'd probably enjoy the movie best.

Books can develop the details so much better than a movie can. . . but movies are someone else's interpretation - a painting really, with limitations a book won't have.

Avid reader and movie goer.

If it is a movie based on a book I would much rather read the book. Otherwise I am content doing both.

I would prefer to read a zombie horror book or a Stephen king book like 'The Stand' , films are too short and pointless if you don't learn anything about....., let's say...surviving a plague of the undead. (unless it is a smart zombie film, maybe a george a romero one)
