That depends on what type of car it is and what your OE tire size is, neither of which you provided.
If you are looking for a performance enhancement, 20-inch wheels are not it. They will actually reduce ride quality, cornering ability and especially stopping performance.
If you just want to imagine you are actually impressing girls by doing this, then by all means go for it.
As the previous poster indicated, tirerack.com has a good selection of wheels and can tell you what combinations will work with your vehicle.

Do you know what "by default" means? It means "A selection made automatically or without active consideration due to lack of a viable alternative ". You should have said "I have car with 15" alloys. Can I put 20" alloys on it?" Yahoo! answers is the wrong place to find this information. Someone like Dodge Man will give you a wrong answer just for the two points, and they don't even know what kind of car you have. Go to a web site like Tire Rack. If you put 20s on a car that has 15s, the car might ride like a buckboard, you may have rim and tire clearance problems, and it's quite likely the rims and tires will cost much more than the car is worth. Don't let these things stop you, though.

When looking at larger rim sizes what you need to worry about is if the tires will clear.always check the front first by putting on the new rim-tire and turning the wheel while it is on the ground. Most tire shops will do this work for you if you are going to buy rims from them.Has nothing to do with driving fast.
