Can you describe your reasons for running and your political platform?

I am currently running for office....The local School Board
I have been in this district now for 5 years and have 2 kids in the system.
I have seen our school taxes go up every year at a rate that is double or triple that of inflation. The reason is that our area is expierancing a very rapid growth and the are building homes and putting kids into our system faster than we can make room.
The platform that I am running on is one of COMMON SENSE.

These builders are making millions as the adverage profit on a home is from over $75,000. Yet they pay nothing back directly to the local tax rolls that are impacted by their actions.
When over 5 years the taxes have grown 33%..enough is enough...I am proposing Impact fees or permit fees that will help directly the people of my area and keep the tax hikes to a minimum if at all. I am a realist and know the price of things go up..but when they adverage 2%..there should be no need for an adverage of over 6% raises
That and I have a bone to pick with the policies that thay have with disciplining the kids...In order to avoid controversy they have a strict policy that if 2 kids get in an altercation...BOTH get suspended...sounds right.....EXCEPT...what if the 1st is a 17 yr old boy...the 2nd is a 13yr old girl...the girl and boy are teasing each other verbally on the bus....the girl zings him good verbally...he takes offense and punches her in the nose breaking it....she did nothing but raise her hand to stop from being hit....should both be punished equally now?
After that story..which came from a very reliable source (a friend in the system..) What shocked me even more..and this is why she told me....the School Superintendant whom the parents appealed the suspension to said " If she did'nt want to be suspended she should have let herself been hit and kept her hands down even from protecting herself"

It is obvious that the current board is clueless and needs to be changed. Common sense approachs are needed and principals need to make decisions on matters rather than hide behind warped policies...

It is a volunteer slot...no pay...but I hope it shows that there are people willing to go to bat for theparents and the kids and make a change for the better.

I would love to, but I don't think I could. I've seen very good people be completely corrupted by the system and by politics, and I'm not ready to play dirty games like that.

If I did, I'd listen. That's what I do for a living anyway. I listen, I evaluate, and I make decisions (I'm a college instructor). And I do what is fair for everyone. I step on some toes every now and then, but if anyone has an objection, they voice their objection, and I respond. Sometimes, I change my policies and practices if the objections are reasonable and well-meaning. In other words, I understand how to help people.

I'd run because I like helping people. I like seeing injustices corrected. And, honestly, I like voicing my opinions because I've been told I'm insightful.

I don't think I could explain my political platform right now. Socially, I'm a liberal, but financially, I'm a conservative. I'm also very much in the middle on many issues because I don't think there's an easy answer to anything.

Good question and thanks!

What will you do for us?

If that is your main question for a candidate, you don't want to hear my platform. Every Senator, Representative, and both the President and Vice President take an oath to "Uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all Enemies, both foreign and domestic." Doing anything for the citizens not specifically authorized by the constitution is a VIOLATION of that oath. Much of the Federal government, as it now exists, is also a violation of that oath.

Nope.

My life would not withstand the microscopic examination politicians go through. Of course theirs can't either. Hence the mud slinging we see all time.

The only office I could get interested in is Governor. A platform: How about "If there is standing room left, the prison isn't full".

I would run for Senator first, but I would love to be president. I guess the issue of gay marriage would be brought up even then, so I would be against it, but I am also against any marriage, but I would not stop people from doing it, it is just my personal preference. I would stop the war on drugs. I would stop dependency on foreign oil by drilling in Alaska, and I would def. stop crime rates from excelling.
I would run under the Libertarian Party, seeing as that is my party. I would also put more sanctions are big business, open a free trading economy, make the black market legal, and do away with tarrifs on Cuba. Lastly, I would have drugs regulated, and also do away with the words "under God" in the Pledge of Alligence, seeing as the Red Scare is practically over, and they are usless words that bring patriotism into a religious idealology.

People like myself could never raise the amount of money needed to even attempt to run for anything higher that a small town Office. That is a major problem with our present system. In order to raise such large amounts of money, the person becomes subject to owing the donor something! To me, THAT is a big problem!

I did serve 4 years on my town council. I ran to represent the common person and I feel I did a good job.

I might
but only for local school board
I believe in a contract between parents and teachers and students. More after school programs, more art, music and phys ed classes, and fewer high-stakes standardized tests.

No, I would never run. I don't have enough money behind me to even be able to get a TV commercial to advertise for a campaign.
