Please give me your thoughts on having just the cell phone and dropping our land line. We are a Senior Couple in Houston, Tx.. Have 2 timeshares in Fl. and Ark. & travel some in the state. We are also home a lot. We really want to do this but need your input here.
Any words of advice are appreciated.~~~~~~~Thanks,Jill

Well, I have had nothing but cells for the last three years, I wouldn't have it any other way, just make sure that you have a plan that will meet or exceed your needs, and I have a phone option on yahoo that I paid 10 dollars for 1000 minutes as back-up for peak minutes if I get close or emergencies if the cell phone has issues. Good luck!

I think that a landline is the most reliable. I have found most people with only cell phones have had at least one trip if not more to the store to see why they can't get calls/voicemail or have dropped calls. A landline does not always need charged and this can be a great advantage. You can go with the minimum land line if you still want to use your cell phone for long distance calls.

It is almost unnecessary in todays day and age to have a landline telephone. Having both a cell phone and a land line is a bit redundant as a cell phone can do whatever a landline can.

My brother gave up his land line years ago and uses only cell. I still prefer to keep my land line. I have unlimited long distance on it, whereas the cell has limited minutes. I guess it depends on your cell plan. If it's a generous plan with lots of minutes and is reliable, I'd say drop the land line.

We are seniors in PA. We have both. We are afraid to give up our land line because the cell phone service is very patchy around here due to the mountains and the lack of towers.

I would opt for the cell phone. If you travel back and forth to your timeshares, it would be better with a cell. YOu have communication at all times. God forbid that anything would happen to you, but you know you always have the comfort of dialling 911 when you have that cell phone!

I've been thinking of the same thing and can't think of a reason not to drop the land line other than the very very rare collect call. I'm tired of paying for something I very rarely use.

i think its a great idea. especially if you're traveling a lot, the cell phone could be with you at every home you go to. plus you'll be saving an extra 50 dollars a month. good luck!
