Read the marks then get on Ebay and see if you can find something similar on the completed auctions; this will give you an idea of the value. Ebay sets the standard for pricing antiques and collectibles now.
I ran a search and it appears the plate might not be worth much but you can have a look.

just one plate and not the set mmm it would have to be something very sought after by a collector. or even companies that sell odd pieces to make full sets
Interesting books you should hunt down, and the best place would be at charity shops. is something like the Millers Antique or Millers Collectible guides. Very good and informative books. with a general price, but not necessarily the price you would achieve either private/auction sale.

Take it along to a reputable auction house, they usually offer free valuations on most things

first read the back and research it on the Internet. telephone a local auction house and describe it, Fax / e-mail a digital photo to the auction house ( back and front)

a member to browse! Chances are very good you will
be able to find your plate there.
