It's like a brother and sister. You guys are the only one we can count on consistently. After the squabbling we will risk our life for you and you will, and have done, likewise.
Personally there is a great respect for the UK and while you guys might not like him I think you are damn lucky to have Tony Blair.

I'm American, and I love the British. Other than the fact that we pwned you in the Revolutionary War :), and the fact that you burned D.C. down in 1812 :(, our countries have been friends forever.
True, you are stereotyped as tea-addicted, dentist-lacking "guv'nas"; but we are stereotyped as war-mongering, oil-seeking totalitarians. None of those stereotypes are true for us, I'm sure they aren't for you, either.
I had American Literature as a class last year; I have British Literature now. You guys kick our butts in that field.
From this side of the pond, it looks like WE are the ones that everyone hates. Both of our countries are great, and I think we are just being paranoid. Long live the English language!
In summary, don't listen to the media. I don't know if BBC is as bad as CNN, but those type of people just like to breed controversy.
p.s. - Your pulling out of Iraq may have inspired some "hate" from our government, but most Americans don't like the war either.

NEVER go by the media. There is probably not a civilization in the world that is more loved by Americans than Great Britian. The Brit's have an easier time getting a job here because of your accents.
Now the French! That is another story.

Americans do not think you have wooden teeth. It is a stereotype, however, that the British have bad teeth. That is just a stupid stereotype though....
Personally, I like England. Nobody has ever given me a reason to hate it. Hell, you all gave us the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd! Without England, the world would be missing out....

I'm from the United States, and have been to England several times for short trips.
I have no particular feelings one way or the other for British people. I suppose I view them in a generally positive light, given that many of us can trace our ancestors back to the U.K., and since we are political allies.
I've enjoyed my trips to England, everyone was just as nice there as they can be here. It is easy to get around (particularly impressed with the subway system) and there is tons of amazing history.
Of course, like every major (and I suppose, even minor) country, England has a lot of negative history in its past, some of which revolves around the formation of my country - but that just makes life interesting, right?
And who thinks y'all have wooden teeth? I've never actually heard of anyone other than George Washington who had wooden teeth.

Sorry if I am made a mistake. This is what I was told.
Some Americans do not like Brits because they feel the Brits are too stuck up and not willing to come to terms with their own shortcomings.
Some Brits do not like Americans because many of the Americans like to talk loudly and disturb the peace. They also feel some Americans are too arrogant.
But generally, I feel both of them are alright. They can't be too bad if they are educated.

Please bear in mind that the media is in the business of selling the products of their advertisers. The media do not reflect life as it is, but rather present and exaggerate "conflict" so as to engage the attention of readers and viewers.
I have been a frequent visitor to the UK, and were the exchange rate a bit kinder, would be in London much more often, as I have friends there whom I miss very much.

Americans don't hate Britian. They think that the British don't like them.
But, then again, there are some of the arrogant Americans who think they can make fun of everyone and say that America is better.
Don't worry about it. If you went to America, you'd be treated fairly.
