Benedryl is excellent. I take Melatonin, but i don't know if young people should. Ask a Dr. or your Chemist. All it is, is a hormone, sold over the counter. But it is (hormone melatonin) is still high in you, and gets weaker as you get older. When I take it and am replacing it I fall right to sleep. My son takes it for flights so he doesn't get jet lag.

I think starting a 12 yr old on any medication for sleep is irresponsible. Try natural methods first like warm milk or may some holistic non additive methods first. Do some research before you resort to medical intervention.

try benedryl (non-drowsy) but what helped me the most was just one tylenol PM, or simply sleep. I take one on a regular night if I can't sleep but, if I don't feel good then I take two.
Good Luck!!

Try benedryl or gravol. In the hospital, they give you bendryl if you cannot sleep. Not the non-drowsy kind.
