You are correct. It was a wartime propaganda film.

I looked at that web site and it is completely ridiculous. I think someone is forgetting this is a "Movie" and not a documentary or history lesson. This movie is based on the graphic novel with the same name. The novel was written just like other graphic novels - from the imagination of a person who has the skills an abilities to give us a compelling story. Oh, there's another word - Story. Its not real.

Are we going to try to send a petition to JK Rowling since there isn't a place in England called Hogwarts? Or are we going to get all over Steven Spielberg for sending an ET into our hearts years ago? Or should Clint Eastwood go to jail for depicting a tough and rough Dirty Harry, when he never really existed in American history?

This movie is a perfect adaption of the graphic novel (fictional story) written by a legend, Frank Miller. I think we need to appreciated how they were able to bring this novel to life and stay so true to exact scenes and text. I read the novel yesterday, and love it.

This movie is a perfect way to spend 1 hour 55 minutes of your time. Don't think you are going to walk out more educated about Greek history, but instead go in knowing you will be entertained.... since that is what movies do.

I wonder if anyone tried to send a petition to Tom Hanks since Forrest Gump is not cited in any history books??

I will first start by saying I loved this movie, for its action, cinimetography, and accurate depiction on history. I was impressed at how the movie held true to the historical facts (other than glamourizing some of the warriors to be monster-like).
Your claim that there weren't 300 Spartans are just WRONG. Where do you get your facts? If you go to any major historical web site or research it in the library they all will confirm....
"Leonidas was a 5th century B.C. Spartan military king who bravely led a small force of Greeks -- mostly Spartan (the famous 300), but also Thespians and Thebans -- against the much larger Persian army of Xerxes, at the pass of Thermopylae, in 480 B.C. during the Persian Wars."

So please stop trying to decieve people by your opinions and stick to documented history when stating facts.

Fabulous movie! Inspiring! It made me want to go home and lift weights, LOL!

But, seriously, the pace was good, the acting was fine (nothing to write to the Academy Awards about but good, nonetheless).

Both my boyfriend and I liked it and he's into action. He loved the war scenes, they were good and gory. I loved the beauty of the scenes, the sets, the costumes, it was like paintings come to life...

I want a "Men of 300" calendar for Christmas!

The movie is based on a graphic novel/comic book... it wasn't intended to be historically accurate... just based on a historic happening... you're thinking too much... it's a movie... not a history lesson...
