If Americans did not believe in our culture , may be they would never keep OUR ancient books in their universities and did not like to give it back to us. It is a suggestion : They can refer to their museums and also in the other countries to see our culture. As every body know , continent America is discovered in about 400 years ago and it is exactly at the same time with our BAHARESTAN square construction in Tehran , Iran was started . Iran has the high way with 3 lines in 2500 years ago during Xerxes kingdom. Iran has the right for pregnant women not to work during expecting for the child. These are just some examples of IRAN's History and its validation. Persepolis. It is a question in my mind . Do Americans have even one legend in their history???!!!

The effects where great and all but I'm tired of hollywood bringing out these biased historical based movies. Yes the movie was entertaining but as an American I can see why it would be insulting to any Persian. I suggest you brush up on your history before seeing this movie. If not you'll walk out the theater thinking the King of Persia was freaking drag queen. I wouldn't go so far as to petition the movie but I don't think I'll watch it again.l

OK. Me , Benjamin , as an IRANIAN , with a rich and ancient culture before any Americans could say that "I am American" , am proud of my nation and country and would like to say may be all of the participants of this movie must had been familiar of my country , but unfortunately now I can insist on it that all about 75000000 IRANIAN are waiting for their reasonable answer . I think art is always a tool to spread life , peace , beauty , kindness and LOVE. But . But . But. Finally I am so sorry and just can invite you to my country to show you what ever you see now in 2500 years ago.

Best wishes for you and Americans if...

Don't fool yourself if you are there to see a historical reenactment of the Battle of Thermopylae. What you get is Frank Miller's Comic book.
I was looking so forward to watching this movie and I expected a one sided story, but not to this extend!! The producer protrayed the Persians as Barbarians and devil worshipers, ruthless warriors, they protrayed the women as prostitutes, and slaves. Contrary to this protrayal, Persians were the only empire with the richest history and full of culture. An empire that lasted more than 2500 years dominating the world. This to this date is longest any empire has ever ruled.
Even 100 years prior to the Thermopylae Battle,The King of Persia Cyrus the great Unlike any other Conqueres did what was unheard of even for centuries after, which was to conserve and protect the culture they had invaded and let the people choose the God they wanted to worship and free the slaves and even free the Jews from Babolonian captivity. Which his act of kindness is mentioned and appraised in the Jewesh Bible, and even imortalized in the Christian Bible in several passages "the anointed of the Lord". This act of humanity was followed by his successors. I could go on and on. However It is understandble that in Hollywood in order to sell box office tickets you have to appeal to an audience and to make the story more exciting they have embellished the story. I just did not expect so much discredit of one's rich culture, and fallacious depiction of true empire! This heavily fictionalized film shows the Greeks battling wild beasts, giants, and Rhinos, Xerxes looking like Drag Queen, totally degrading one of the key battles in Greco-Persian history. They face not the army of Xerxes described by Herodotus, but creatures from a sci fi movie! But if you are there to watch Frank Miller's fictional comic book, like blood and gore it is a fun movie to watch.

Who said it's about history? It's about what Herodotus wrote.

I think you're a little overly sensitive. It's not the first time a movie has been made about it. "300 Spartans" was another movie made way before the Shah was out of Iran, when they were our allies.

I think you need to get over it.

By the way, it is hardly being made by the American government.

Perhaps if the government of Iran was concerned with its image in the US, it wouldn't have endorsed its students' capturing of American citizens for 444 days in 1979. And it wouldn't be declaring the Holocaust a Jewish hoax upon humanity.

I agree with the first and second response...it is a movie and a well made one for that matter. The best I've see in a long while, I'd pay to see it again. Troy was not historically correct either but it was a good movie, I think your making this a huge deal. Let it go if you dont like it go watch music and lyrics...

I thought this movie was wonderful, it was the best movie I have ever seen!!! I understand 50% of it was "Hollywood", however the movie itself was amazing as well as entertaining and inspiring. I saw it the day after it came out, and people were screaming in the end with war cries at how good the movie was. Both men a women alike enjoyed this movie. I guess it takes a certain type of person to appreciate the artistic value. Not to mention these lesser known actors gave the best performances of their careers. A+

What a pathetic post? The movie is made and it is great. I'm going to see it a second time. The only thing you said that makes any sense is that fact that so many Persian generals were *******. There were no groids in the Greek or Persian civilizations.

For the record, I've never seen the film but from reading information on IMDB.com, the film was deliberately exaggerated to be historically inaccurate for a reason; it is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller.

i have seen the movie and it is astonishing!!! so much art! nice visual effects! the movement and shades of the clothes are overwhelming! best picture ever! the dancing oracle leaves me speechless! the film is like bursting with art! its like a moving painting! so rich in visual beauty!
i know it isnt realistic since it is an ancient greek story which usualy is exagerrated and extreme to add drama and color, but who cares, the film rocks!
